QRUK023 - Essence of House EP
TBG & James Worker
QRUK returns with its twenty-third release, the Essence of House EP, bringing together London-based producer TBG and Newcastle's James Worker for their long-awaited debut on the label. A collaboration we've been incredibly excited about from the very beginning, the EP generated strong early reactions throughout the promo process and quickly became one of those rare projects that felt special from the first listen.
Opening the release is the title track, Essence of House, a joint production that pays homage to the golden era of Ibiza while embracing a modern sound. Built around uplifting house chords, timeless female vocals and crisp, skippy drum programming, it captures the energy and emotion of a golden era while remaining firmly rooted in today's dancefloors. TBG follows with On The Ropes, a darker and more driving track that blurs the lines between House and UK Garage. Rolling FM basslines, moody vocal hooks and techno-inspired melodic stabs create a track packed with peak-time energy.
Closing the EP, James Worker delivers a deep and minimal remix of On The Ropes, stripping things back into a more spacious, groove-led roller. Rising pads, warm basslines and subtle rhythmic movement give the track an effortless beach club feel, providing the perfect contrast to the originals. Having previously worked together on other projects, Essence of House marks the first QRUK release from both artists, and if this EP is anything to go by, it certainly won't be the last.
